4/7/11   5   Howard constantly proves he is the best interviewer on the radio or TV. He constantly works and worries about giving his audience the best possible show that he can. RID: 29670

1/11/11   5   Hands down the best show around and it only gets better every year as howard grows more comfortable. Anyone who says he used to be better is either too cheap to have a sub or half the show used to go right over there head and now they get even less the point. RID: 28929

11/18/10   5   Love him or hate him, he is the best interviewer alive today. The man knows how to get people to open up better than anybody else on earth. If you are not a supporter of Howard please listen to the interview that he did with Billy Joel on 11-16-10. It was well planned, very compelling, interesting beyond belief, and just a heart warming hour of honesty and details about a living american legend (Billy Joel). Today was an interview with "Will the Farter" and although that might not be everbodys cup of tea, it does show the talent of the "King of all media". It will be a very sad day on this planet when Mr. Stern goes off the air. RID: 28426

10/14/09   5   I like the evolution of stern's personality. It's interesting to experience some, sort of, personal, intimate, growth and change of an individual through the distant, impersonal machine of radio or television. i like the base, pure, simplistic, genuine sense of a person that you get w/ the show that seems particularly unique here. You don't find this type of personal catharsis on any other show. especially, the type that's mixed w/ a humor and sometimes barbed, fluidly natural satirical commentary that gives a refreshing, poignant levity and crudely crystalized insight to the artificially and unecessarily contrived and burdensome plastic weight of experience. fundamentally, at its core, the show is the best reality show out there: humorously raw, pure and honest, exposing the heart and jest of the sometimes beautiful-ugly. even though some may argue that the humor of the show has changed or lessened a genuinely, raw narration still remains & that's why the show is still the best.  9/25/09   2   It seems that Howard's show has been in slow decline since the beginning of 2008. It has been hard to stay tuned without just getting bored and turning it off. I didn't renew my subscription but still find ways to listen hoping to find something funny and entertaining usually to no avail. His hay-day has came and went, but luckily the classics will always be there to listen to. RID: 25240

8/29/09   2   Time to put the horse out to pasture. And no, I'm not talking about Beth O., I mean the shell of a show called the Howard Stern Show. He has either gotten incredibly lazy or simply ran out of creative ideas, but his show is nowhere near as entertaining as when he was on "terrestrial" radio. Listening back to the "best of" shows, during one his many vacations, has confirmed this time and time again. He puts no effort into the show now, instead relying on yet another recycled Artie story or worn out Sal and Richard prank call. Or the old standy, throw a **** on the sybian. I stopped listening about a year ago, happened to catch a show recently (during the week he was actually at work this month) and it was basically the same damn show I heard last year. He mentions that he will retire after his contract expires; I say it is long overdue. RID: 25011

6/30/09   5   I love the Howard Stern show! It doesn't matter whether he doesn't have the audience he has at K-Rock. The true Stern fans made the jump when he did. Howard Stern is without a shadow of a doubt "THE KING OF ALL MEDIA!" RID: 24612

12/19/08   5   I have followed Howard for many years. Now that he has the freedom of speech on Sirius Satellite, he has just gotten better. Howard set the boundaries for all terrestrial radio morning shows. All of them have copied most of what Howard has originated. His group of Robyn, Artie, Fred, BABABOOEY, SAL, Richard and the Wack Pack will never be topped. Howard is good raunchy adult radio that we need in a time of bad economy and job losses. RID: 22761

Click to report rating    12/8/08   5   I have been listening to Howard for over 20 years and rarely miss a show. I also have Howard TV and watch it daily. Howard is the best interviewer on the planet and the way he makes the show flow is nothing short of genius.Over the years the show has progressively gotten better and I believe that going to sirius was the best decision Howard ever made! Click to report rating    12/3/08   5   Howard Stern rocks! However, it would be nice if he lets some of the guests actually talk instead of talking over them. Because of this I would give a 3, but Sal and Richard, Artie, Robin and Fred and everyone else makes it a five. The point is HowardTV isn't just about Howard. It's about everyone there and that's why I watch and listen. And that's what make it so addictive. I really wish Verizon would have HowardTV though. RID: 22494

Click to report rating    11/27/08   5   I've been with Howard since 1988, he's had his ups and downs but Howard's thick hide of leather skin is enough to give Robin a good ride round the studio a couple of times. I'd like to see Robin and Howard embrace more often and do more touchy, touchy things. The rest of the cast has virtually melded between the seems so it's hard to pry them away for fresh talent, but that's one of the secrets of Howard's' show. The family factor. Despite that the fan base runs the gamut from pickpockets, molly card scammers, loud waitresses, and wall street bankers, who by the way should advertise more on Howard's show. Oh yeah by now Howard probably has a complete collection of Playboys he's selectively bought off ebay over the years. Betcha didn't know that. Finally, he needs to rake Miley Cyrus and Ryan Seacrest over the coals. RID: 22423

Click to report rating    11/14/08   5   Simply the most entertaining person on radio. Great interviewer and developer of bits which have been ripped off over the years, such as Leno's Jaywalking and Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader? When are we going to see the Mexican Delivery game ripped off and on TV?! Notice that the negative comments in these posts are unsubstantive, akin to why people wanted to support Palin ... need I say more? RID: 22138

Click to report rating    8/20/08   5   Howard Stern Show is stronger than ever, after 30 years the show still keeps you on your toes as well as make your stomach hurt with laughter. Click to report rating    8/20/08   5   Howard has been on for the longest time and is still going strong, many have tried to bring him down but he is still on top. He always seems to stay with whats going on, other so called shock jocks stay with the same bits they started with, like Mike Meyers. Click to report rating    8/12/08   2   I echo what some of the previous raters have said. Howard's Sirius shows are pretty good - when he is there. But the commercials are as long as they were on FM so if one starts - which it frequently does while I am on my way to work - I might as well change the channel. Add the 10 weeks vacation and four day weeks - which amounts to 42 more days without the show or another 8 plus five day weeks and, well, there's a problem. Put this together with poor reception in some areas and Sirius radios that seem to have a limited lifespan and it's become more trouble and money than it is worth. $150.00 a year for the subscription, $100.00 or more for the radio which unlike the original radios put out such a weak FM signal that you almost have to have the wiring installed in your car (add $60 - $120) and if you want to listen in the house another $100.00 for a boombox. Suddenly, you have shelled out $500.00. And if you don't drive in the same car all of the time... well it's too much. RID: 20299

Click to report rating    8/5/08   5   Potty humor, not for everybody. Most people judge the show blindly but if you listen for yourself you will be amazed at how great it really is. The show makes the day fly by, and on days that the show isn't live it creeps by. if I could only listen to one thing a day it would be The Howard Stern Show , hands down. RID: 20176

Click to report rating    8/2/08   2   Being a 20 year listener, never thought I'd rate Howard this low. Yeah, We all know about his 4-day work week plus 10 weeks vaction in his contract. But when Howard does work, he's just rushing thru the week (well, through Thursday). And when the show's on vacation, nothing to entice me to keep listening. 20 years worth of tapes, and they just put in entire shows from the past, and not the best segments or moments? Pure laziness. Click to report rating    6/11/08   3   The revolution, what revolution? When he was on Free radio, 4hours 5 days a week with commercials and about 3 weeks vacation. Sirius, 4 hours a day 4 days a week with commercials and 8 weeks of vacation. They treat Beth like she was the virgin Mary. She is a horse faced bore. He got people to buy Sirius Radios, pay to listen to commercials and pay to get less radio than when it was free to hear him. Howard isnt the angry edgy guy he use to be but he is still the most entertaining broadcaster on any form of radio today. RID: 19408

Click to report rating    3/4/08   5   Having worked in the field of statistical interpretation, I wish I could explain exactly why Howard Stern listeners are much more massive in number than ANY data/demographic study will ever measure. His listeners are extremely loyal, and interconnected, but for the most part do not show up on the radar. This has been true for his entire career. The basic appeal of the program under discussion is the simple fact that Mr Stern, and his co-workers have never lied to their audience, and always cater to the desires and input of listeners - hence his quick settling-in period at Sirius Inc. He is riding the crest of a technology change which will eventually replace ground-based radio transmission. Makingh the move was daring, us expected - his audience followed him, and continue to join the service. Sirius' growth from 800,000 to 8.5 million subscribers in 2 years is quite impressive. Nedd more be said ? RID: 17798

Click to report rating    1/12/08   2   After listening to Howard for over ten years, his show has really thrown in the creative towel once he moved to Sirius. The shows are uninspired and boring, so I guess complaining that he's only on 4 days a week is a moot point. Very few interesting guests, repetitive bits, and 10 weeks off a year. The commercial count is increasing which is insane with a paid subscription. The 'breaks' are hovering 15 mins with commercials plus replay bits. If you're on a short drive to work, forget it. Click to report rating    10/26/07   5   Although Artie sleeping is getting annoying, the show is still the best entertainment on radio. He is the best interviewer bar none. His wit and commentary on what is happening around the world is open and honest which I admire even if i disagree. He is a great entertainer and that is shown when there are no guests and no planned bits. Just to listen to his humorous or passionate response to anything and everything is magic and can't be found anywhere else. He is as committed as ever to producing a great show each day, and he delivers by tossing political correctness out the window. He cares more about entertaining you than having you agree with what he says. He is open and honest about his day to day life, which makes him the originator of the reality shows. This isn't surprising though, as he has influenced and originated countless shows and people in today's entertainment industry. Long live the King. RID: 15663

Click to report rating    8/1/07   2   Been a Howard fan since the 1980's when he was the afternoon guy on WNBC. Followed him to 92.3 and now to Sirius. Bought all his tapes and went to see his movie. Used to love him, but now he works 4 days a week, takes off 16 weeks each year, no scripted bits, increasing commercial time. Same boring topics and show everyday. They pick on Gary one day, Ronnie one day, Sal the next day. Plus the show has turned completely homo. Howard is giving minimum effort for his 500 million. The only thing that is keeping me from cancelling my subscription is Arty and the phone pranks of Sal and Richard. Sorry Howard, I love you man; but something is missing here. RID: 14053

Click to report rating    7/9/07   5   best show on radio by far. Howard looks at himself, and his crew in such an honest way and leaves little to the imagination. Click to report rating    6/7/07   4   I have been listening to Howard since the NBC days and I can quickly sum up all your problems with the show. Howard has no doubtedly changed. Those of us that grew up with Howard can easily recognize these changes. However, these changes were gradual. As Howards success and fortune grew so did his ego. We can all sit and criticize him for dedicating an hour of the show to the Northshore Animal League just to please Beth. In all the years Howards been on, this is the first time he has really been in love.Come on guys, we all know how that can change us. I believe we have to sit back and think about it. If we started at the bottom and worked our way up to the top wouldn't we change or would we eat, live, talk, dress or act the same way we did when we first started out. I doubt it. THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT YEARS HOWARD!! RID: 12967

Click to report rating    6/2/07   1   You could say he was great in the 80s and maybe even in the early 90s but Howard lost something along the way. O&A, Ron & Fez, etc...are the future of radio. Face it when was the last time Howard invented something new? Even his hardcore fans know that he's just not what he used to be like a long time ago. His program is just not shocking anymore. If he really wanted to improve his show he would hire younger writers and producers. After a being on the air for years and being successful he needs to reinvent what he once had, but I don't think he will succeed. To Howard today it's all about the money and not about his fans. Click to report rating    5/18/07   5   The show is funnier than ever, an uncensored Howard creates a more relaxed Howard. Artie's fat stories and Richard and Sal's kick ass phony phone calls and song parodies are worth listening alone. I like Opie and Anthony too, and Don and Mike. Those three shows to me are all original and hilarious. I don't necessarily blame Howard for saying everyone ripped him off because for the majority of the cases he's right. Howard just did it first and in my opinion is still the best. The flow of the show and the fact you can listen all day are positive and addicting attributes of the Sirius based Howard Stern show. Finally, people who complain here and other places that Howard is "washed up" and an old man are in my opinion close minded listeners. He might sound conceited or pompous at times but he is always quick with the self-defacing humor. Simply the best, if you don’t have Sirius, go out there and get one as soon as you can. RID: 12578

O & A , are not Stern clones, they have some of teh same 'shock' jock elements to their show but thats called radio.  5/13/06   1   I used to be a HUGE fan of Howard Stern, but his days have been numbered since the late 80's and most of the 90's. When he made the switch to Sirius, he should've dropped Robin--she brings NOTHING to the program now that it is uncensored! Howard himself has become too paranoid about certain other talk show hosts, he babbles about things nobody really cares about, and its only the characters (besides Robin) that bring laughs for his show. Besides--ever noticed how "his audience" hasn't been subscribing to Sirius? He is overpaid and overrated, ladies and gentlemen--stop listening to his crappola and go get yourself an XM (or find a friend with an XM online account to check out fresher talk radio show hosts.)  2/13/06   5   I love the show, I've been an avid listener since for over 15 years. Everytime I've been transferred with a job I had to make sure Howard was on in that market before I would consider moving. Sirius has been a godsend for that reason alone. RID: 4663

2/2/06   1   I tried listening to his new show. But it was just plain awful. Thank god i didn't pay for his show and just downloaded the torrents. And who the hell listens to the Howard 100 news? Do we really need an hour long show about each time howard takes a dump? He's been doing subpar radio for years now. And this just proves it to everyone, cause even though he can't hide behind the FCC and bush anymore, he still will not do an entertaining show. Stop recording old outdated bits and do some new and fresh bits. Stop whining about yourself. Stop talking about the move to sirius. You are already there! Stop avoiding doing a radio show AND DO AN F'ING SHOW!! More roasts. But not roasts about a gay guy that has done nothing in life. Stop the canned cackling laughter after each joke is said. If the joke bombs ADMIT it. You have alot to change howard to make me and millions of others listeners again. Good luck bro. RID: 4481

2/2/06   2   He was syndicated in my city on regular radio and I listened for awhile, but I finally got bored. Tell the truth, he just sounded kind of tired. Maybe the new format will fire him up, but how challenging and hungry can you be if you're worth . . . a half billion dollars!! I think young Howard would make fun of old Howard. Besides, Sirius equipment is junk. I went with XM and I find OnA to be more than a worthy replacement, they're very funny. Sorry, Howard. RID: 4480

Click to report rating    1/28/06   1   Stern is washed-up. He is a liar, a hypocrite and a thief. He's a hypocrite because in his book he bashed Micheal Jackson and Scott Shannon for getting plastic surgery. Now we know he gets more PS than Beth Oats. He's lipo chinned. RID: 2400

Click to report rating    1/28/06   1   So disapointing. After all the hype, where's the great show? What a let down! He used to be so great, this is sad. I would feel bad, but he's getting an awful lot of money for this, so he should be at least trying a little harder. It's one thing say you'll change radio for months, it's something els to actually do it. When does he change anything? Same old stuff, big new price tag. He's a gifted salesman, but you have to back it up with something eventually. Sad. RID: 2199

Click to report rating    1/27/06   1   Has been repetitive lately. Most of the show is talking about himself and taking calls that say "you're great howard". I like the Sirius service, but Howard's show needs work. The show sounds disjointed and Howard sounds bored. RID: 1414
